Harvey P. Curlin began his career with the Jackson Police Department in 1947 as a police officer.  He rose through the ranks of Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and retired with the rank of Deputy Chief in 1989.  He also served in the Navy during World War II.

Chief Curlin was a member of the Masonic Lodge #332; lifetime member of the Jackson Police Association; member of the Retired Police Association, and the Charles F. Wooten Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #7.  He was also a charter member and the oldest member of the Forked River Coon Club at the time of death.

Chief Curlin was a person who loved to have fun and enjoy life.  He will always be remembered as the disciplinarian of the adminstration to all who worked under his command.
