Robert “Hugh” Pegram began his career with the Jackson Police Department on September 01, 1946 as an officer.  During this time, he was enlisted in the Army and had to take a leave of absence to serve our country during post wartime.  He returned to the Police Department on August 20, 1951 with full rights.  By December 15, 1952 he was promoted to the position of Desk Sergeant.  He maintained that position for a little over seven years and on January 01, 1960 then Sgt. Pegram was promoted to Lieutenant.  He remained as Lieutenant for nine years when he was promoted to the position of Captain on March 01, 1969.   
After twenty- three plus years of service to the City of Jackson, Captain Pegram ended his career and retired on July 01, 1970.
During his career, Captain Pegram received numerous letters of commendation for his dedication and service to the Police Department.
