Guy Usery was hired at Jackson Police Department on April 1, 1940 as a Patrolman.  He was assigned to the Patrol Division.

Officer Usery was promoted through the ranks from Sergeant to Lieutenant on February 1, 1956 and then he promoted to Captain on January 1, 1960 dedicating most of his service to the Patrol Division. Ca1969ptain Usery was then later promoted to Assistant Chief on July 1, 1961.  He attended FBI School on October 13, .

Assistant Chief Guy Usery retired from the Jackson Police Department on July 1, 1972 after over 31 years of service.
