Larry Edward Price began his law enforcement career with the Jackson Police Department on September 29, 1972.  Within the following year, he attended the Tenneessee Law Enforcement Training Academy - Basic Recruit School and obtained a Certificate of Compliancy.  Upon returing to the department he was assigned to the Patrol Division.  

In April 2, 1973, then Officer Price was transferred to the Traffic Division where he remained until September 1, 1977 when he was transferred to the Juvenile Division as an Investigator.  He was later transferred from the Juvenile Division to the Patrol Division on October 1, 1982 where he remained until January 17, 1983 when he was again transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division Auto Theft Unit as an Investigator.  While in place, Investigator Price made Investigator II and Investigator III.  

On August 18, 1992, Investigator Price was transferred to the 26th Judicial Drug Task Force as the Assistant Director and Finicial Officer.  Then in 1995, Price became the Acting Director of the Drug Task Force and later in the year he became the Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Police.  Officer Price was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on February 24, 1999 and was in charge of the employee background investigations as well as Uniforms and Equipment.  On March 30, 2002, Sgt. Price was promoted in place to the rank of Lieutenant.  He continued with his responsibilities over the Uniforms and Equipment as well as Background Investigations until his retirement on January 14, 2005.

In April 2006, Price returned to work as a part-time employee and returned to his last assignment conducting employee background checks in addition to handling Uniforms and Equipment.  Then he was reinstated to full P.O.S.T. certified status in August 2009 when he was appointed by Mayor Jerry Gist as the Interim Chief where he remained until November 16, 2009 when Gill Kendrick was hired and took office as the Chief of Police.  

Upon Chief Gill Kendrick taking office he assigned Interim Chief Price as the Chief's Administrative Assistant.  Larry Price remained the Administrative Assistant until his retirement on July 1, 2010.

During his tenure, Interim Chief Price attended and completed numerous hours of training about auto crimes, background investigations, Regional Organized Crime Information Center, as well as gang, violent and drugs.  Chief Price was nominated and elected the F.O.P. Charles W. Wooten Lodge # 7 Officer of the Year in 1987.  He also recevied numerous letters of commendation.  He was also nominated and elected the Employee of the Month in February 1996.

Since his retirement, Larry is enjoying watching his three grandchildren as they participate in sports.  Larry also likes to fish in his spare time.
