Paul Martin, I began his law enforcement career at the Jackson Police Department on December 4, 1978.  During the first year of his employment, he attended and completed the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy - Basic Police Recruit School and upon returing to the department he was assigned to the Patrol Division as a Patrol Officer I.

On October 16, 1989 Officer Martin was laterally transferred to the Motorcycle Unit as a Patrol Officer and then he was transferred back to the Patrol Division June 5, 1990 where he remained until his retirement on November 3, 2007.  

Officer Martin was nominated and elected the Employee of the Month twice during his career.  Once in August 1996 and again in May 2000.  Officer Martin also recieved numerous personnal letters of commendation during his tenure.
