Samuel Dale Mullins began his career in law enforcement at the Jackson Police Department on November 6, 1972.  During February 1973, Mullins attended and completed the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy - Class 107.  After obtaining his Certificate of Compliance and returning to the department, Officer Mullins was assigned to the Patrol Division.  Then effective September 16, 1977, Officer Mullin's was transferred to the Traffic Division where he remained until November 11, 1978 when Officer Mullins seperated from his employment with the City of Jackson.

Officer Mullins re-applied and was rehired effective October 1, 1979.  He was reassigned to the Patrol Division.  Then on June 2, 1980, Officer Mullins was transferred to Community Relations where he remained until October 1, 1981 when Officer Mullins returned to the Patrol Division.  

Officer Mullins was later transferred from the Patrol Division to the Motorcycle Patrol on October 4, 1985 where he remained until on November 10, 1998.  Upon Officer Mullins retirement he received the Medal of Merit for his dedicated service to the Jackson Police Department.  Also during his tenure Officer Mullins was nominated and elected to be the Employee of the Month in October, 1995.  He also received several letters of commendation.
