James Russell Warren began his career in law enforcement at the Jackson Police Department on October 15, 1969.  He later attended the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and upon obtaining his commission, Warren was assigned to the Traffic Division as a Patrol Officer.  

While assigned to the Traffic Division, then Officer Warren was promoted to the rank of Corporal on December 9, 1981.  With this promotion he began a twenty-one (21) year career in police supervision.  

After nearly twenty years (20)of service in the Traffic Division, Corporal Warren was reassigned to the Patrol Divisionon August 23, 1989.  Then on October 3, 1990 Corporal Warren was promoted to the rank of Sergeant.  Sgt. Warren continued to serve as a Patrol Division Supervisor until his retirement on October 25, 2002.

During his tenure, Sgt. James Russell Warren received numerous letters of personnal commendation.  His accomplishments and contributions to the department and the City of Jackson are meritorious and bring honor to the entire Jackson Police Department, while serving under three Police Chiefs.
