Officer Jones was transferred to the Property Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Division in October, 2008. Then, in January 2010, he was assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in this division in July of 2013. He attended several trainings regarding C.P.T.E.D. Sgt. Jones received Employee of the Month twice during his tenure, February 2004 and May 2012. Sgt. Jones retired from the Police Department on April 25, 2015.
