  • 2009 - Chief of Police

James Gilliand Kendrick was appointed Chief of Police at the Jackson Police Department on November 16, 2009. Mayor Jerry Gist made the appointment following the retirement of long-time Chief Richard S. Staples' retirement in August of that year. Chief Kendrick began his law enforcement career at Brownsville Police Department and served there for 30 years, retiring as Chief of Police there as well. During his short tenure here, he moved the department toward more electronic means and was responsible for bringing this kiosk system online for such documentary information as this.
