Phillip Whitman started his twenty-four years of service to the citizens of Jackson, Tennessee on August 27, 1990 and was assigned to the Patrol Division as a patrol officer providing police service on the streets of Jackson.  He worked there until on April 13, 1994 he was assigned to the Tatical Team.

Later Officer Whitman returned to the Patrol Division upon his promotion to the rank of Sergeant on September 25, 1996.  As a Patrol Sergeant he was tasked with serving as a role model for and supervising the officers of a patrol district.  It was his service in this capacity that will leave a lasting mark on the Jackson Police Department.

Twice while serving as a supervisor he was selected by the members of the Jackson Police Department as the Employee of the Month, once in January of 2007 and again in April of 2012.  Being twice recognized by his co-workers speaks clearly about the quality of the twenty-four years of meritorious service given by Sergeant Phillip Whitman.
