Sergeant Johnny K. Jines retired from the Jackson Police Department following more than thirty years in law enforcement.  The majority of his career was served at J.P.D. with eighteen years in a supervisory capacity.  He also served as an adjunct faculty member at Jackson State Community College and Union University, teaching courses in Sociology and Criminal Justice.

Futhermore, Sgt. Jines was a member of the Crash Reconstruction Team where he was established through the court system as an expert witness in this field.  As an instructor and later coordinator of the Crisis Intervention Team (C.I.T.), he continuously sought ways to inform officers on this subject and others both locally as well as guest instructor at another agency.  He was and continues to be a prolific writer, publishing articles in Law & Order magazine and the F.B.I. Bulletin; and is the author of the J.P.D. Challenge Coin mantra which is proudly displayed in the front lobby of the police department.  In addition, he began a book prior to his retirement which is still in progress entitled, " Warrior Mind, Chaplian Heart."

He received several letters of commendation and awards prested which included being selected as Employee of the Month in April 2006, Life-Saving Medal, Officer Ronnie Whatt Memorial Integrity Award, and the Major Sam Cochran (Ret.) Criminal Justice Award for significant contributions to work in Crisis Intervention.  As an itinerant minister of the gospel, Sgt. Jines was honored and humbled by many who sought his counsel on a variety of personal and professional issues within the strictest context of confidentiality; directing them to possible resources for resolution of thier concerns.

Most of all, Sgt. Jines acknowledges God's infinite grace and mercy shown to him throughtout his life and career without none of this would have been possible or meaningful.  Micah 6:8 (KJV)
