Michael Alan Turner began his law enforcement career with the Jackson Police Department on December 8, 1974.  He served as a patrol officer for a period of three years before leaving to accept a position with the Hamilton County Police Department.  He returned to the Jackson Police Department on June 1, 1978 as a patrolman.  He rose through the patrolman and investigative ranks and completed his career as a Lieutenant.

During his tenure, he was one of the original members selected for the newly formed full-time Tactical Unit composed of six (6) officers in June 1982.  He was assigned to the assault/take-down team.  He remained a member of the Tact Team until 1989 when he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division as a Crime Scene Technician.  It was there that he rose through the ranks of investigations. In 1996, he was transferred to Photo & Identification where he remained until his retirement with the rank of Lieutenant.  Lt. Turner attended numerous training classes and seminars while in the Tact Unit.    He was a certified Firearms Instructor and Crime Scene Technician..

Lt. Jackson.

Lt. Mike Turner received  the Medal of Merit in 1989 for his years of service with the Tactical Unit.  He also received the Medal of Merit for his years of meritorious service to the Police Department at his retirement in 2012.
