Officer Kenneth Dan Conway began his career as a police officer on April 10, 1972 at the Jackson Police Department.  During the first year of his employment, Officer Conway attended and completed the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy Basic Police Recruit School - Class 103.  Officer Conway was honored by the peers of his recruit school when they elected him to serve as the Class President of Class 103. 

On December 17, 1977 Officer Dan Conway was trained through the National Rifle Association of America in Police Firearms Training.  He also completed a N.R.A. course certifiying him as a Police Sharpshooter.  Officer Conway later also satisfactorily completed a F.B. I. SWAT school he became part of the first SWAT Team at the Jackson Police Department.  

In addition to those courses, Officer Conway was trained in Motor Vehicle Traffic Accident Investigation taught by The Traffic Institute - Northwestern University, which was sponsored by the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy in 1981.  This course of instruction certified him as a Traffic Accident Reconstructionist.  Officer Conway received additional training to become an Instructor for the National Highway Safety Council by completing a Defensive Driving Course in 1985.  Officer Conway was also trained by CSX Railroad to investigate railroad grade crossing collisons. 

During Officer Conway's career in law enforcement, he recieved numerous letters of personal commendation and was also honored by being voted as the Employee of the Month in February 1998.  The nomination described Officer Conway as ". . . having trained more officers than any veteran officer with the department.  He instills outstanding values to young officers, such as safety and good patrol techniques.  He is very knowledgeable in his work and keeps abreast of current developments in law enforcement. 

Officer Conway's remarkable sense of humor is appreciated by everyone.  He is said to be a "gifted comedian".  He has a very positive attitude.  As a loving and devoted family man, he places his family first and takes excellent care of them."

Officer Dan Conway, for the last five years of his career, was assigned as the Parks Police Officer which entailed maintaining law and order of all the parks and the golf course within the City of Jackson.  Officer Conway retired April 2, 2001 at the rank of P4.
