Lieutenant Randall Lee Hampton began is career with the Jackson Police Department on April 29 1985 in the Patrol Division, where he remained until he was promoted to Investigator in 1992.  At that time, he was transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division and began his progression through the ranks.  After working as an investigator for five years, he was promoted to Sergeant in 1997.  Two years later, he was promoted to Lieutenant, a rank held until his retirement.

Lt. Hampton attended numerous training sessions during his tenure to include drugs, investigative, domestic violence and Forensic Video Analysis.  Also during this time,  he pursued and obtained a law degree from the Nashville School of Law.

Lt. Hampton received numerous letters of commendation from his supervisors and citizens of the City of Jackson.  He nominated and selected by his peers as   the "Employee of the Month" in October 1998.
