John T. McCann was hired at the Jackson Police Department on May 10, 1941 as a police officer.  He was assigned to the Patrol Division.

Officer McCann was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in the Patrol Division on Jauary 1, 1960.  Sgt. McCann received several letters of appreciations and  while employed with the Police Department.  Sgt. J. T. McCann was shot while in the line of duty on September 10, 1963.

Sgt. John McCann retired from Jackson Police Department on April 1, 1967 after serving 25 years and 11 mos with the department.
