Jerry Taylor began his law enforcement career at the Jackson Police Department on June 6, 1971 as a Patrol Officer.  He was assigned to the Patrol Division.  

Officer Taylor was then promoted to Corporal in the Patrol Division on January 1, 1980.  Cpl.Taylor was later promoted to Sergeant in the Patrol Division on February 17,  1982 and on November 2, 1988 he transferred to the Juvenile Division.  On July 7, 1989, Sgt. Taylor then transferred from the Juvenile Division and went to the Criminal Investigation Division where he remained until he retired.  

Sgt. Jerry Taylor was voted as Employee of the Month in January 1988.  Also during his career, Sgt. Taylor recevied numerous letters of appreciation and commendation for his service to the community.

Sgt. Jerry Alan Taylor retired from the Jackson Police Department on January 26, 1996 after 24 years 7 mos with the department.
