James Rodney Golden was hired as a Patrolman with Jackson Police Department on August 1, 1972.  He was assigned in the Traffic Division.  Golden was later  promoted on August 27, 1986 to Investigator in the Criminal Investigation Division  During his time in CID, Inv. Golden worked in the Violent Crimes Unit.  He later progressed   to Investigator  II on October 4, 1989 and then to Investigator III on October 3, 1990.   Then Inv. Golden on March 30, 2002 he was promoted to Sergeant.  

During his tenure in Parol, Traffic, Violent Crimes and Cid he was presented with several letters of appreciation and commendation for his service to the community.  During his service with the department, Sgt. Golden was well known and respected as a person that could communication and deal with anybody on any level and was in cases the only "Police Officer" that the community trusted which lead to several leads and arrest.

Sgt. Golden was selected as Employee of the Month in March 1990 and again in May 2006.  Sgt. Golden was very knowledgeable in his field.  He attended several educational courses which included:  National Homicide Seminar, Child Sexsual Abuse Investigation School, Identi-Kit System, Mid- Level Law Enforcement Management Course, Criminal Investigation School, Advanced Traffic Accident Investigation and others.

Sgt. James Rodney Golden retired on November 14, 2006 from the Jackson Police Department after serving over 34 years.

He is presently employed with Lane College as Security and  Stephenson and Shaw Funeral Home.
