Billy Wayne Ward began his career with the Jackson Police Department on June 24, 1969.  Prior to Billy Ward being hired with the City of Jackson, he was employed as an officer with the City of Selmer, Selmer, Tennessee. 

Upon his employment with the City of Jackson, Billy Ward was assigned to the Patrol Division as an Officer where he remained until January 1, 1980.  He was then promoted to the rank of Sergeant and tranferred to Booking as transport and warrant officer.  Sergeant Ward had a good working relationship with the City Court.  He assisted in getting court documents from Booking to City Court for each court appearance.  He also saw that the warrants were served promptly that came back to the department from City Court.  
 
Sergeant Billy Ward’s career lasted for thirty years until he retired on June 11, 1999.  During his service to the Jackson Police Department he received numerous Certificates for Training and Letters of Commendation for his hard work and dedication to his assigned duties.
