Officer Phillip Shane Little was hired by the Jackson Police Department in 1982. He graduated from the Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy and was assigned to the Patrol Division.

Officer Little was assigned as a School Resource Officer in 1996 and served in that capacity until 2003 when he was reassigned to Patrol Division.
Officer Little attended multiple schools during his employment including Motor Vehicle Traffic Accident Investigation, Technical Traffic Investigation, Traffic Accident Reconstruction,  Advanced Hostage Negotiations, School Resource Officer Training, Youth Victim/Youth Offender training course, and Crisis Negotiation Training.  He was an integral member of the Traffic Crash Reconstruction Team.

Officer Phillip Shane Little retired from the Jackson Police Department March 3, 2009.
