Michael K. Jenkins became a Jackson Police Officer on February 12th 1984 and was assigned to the Patrol Division.  He served there as an officer until 1988 when he was transferred to the Narcotics Division as an investigator. 

Officer Jenkins later transferred back to the Patrol Division where he served as Field Training Officer and a Crime Scene Technician.  He attended numerous educational courses such as officer survival and drug enforcement.  Officer Jenkins also received numerous letters of appreciation and commendation.  

In February of 1989, Officer Jenkins was awarded the Police Medal of Merit after he selflessly entered a burning building to search for occupants.  Then in August of 1997, he was awarded the Police Lifesaving Medal after he provided cardiopulmonary resuscitation to a person who had no pulse and had quit breathing.  The victim had regained vital signs by the time emergency medical personnel arrived on the scene and the victim survived.  

After serving over 26 years Officer Michael K. Jenkins retired from the Jackson Police Department August 2010.
