Martha A. Parker began her career with the Jackson Police Department on October 17, 1978 as a dispatcher.  Her primary duties were to recevie incoming requests for police service and dispatch them to the officers.  In 1994, the then called Communications Division was renamed Central Dispatch and she began dispatching requests for service for the Jackson Fire Department, as well as the Police Department.  Her knowledge of Central Dispatch, along with her work ethic, gained her a position as Communications Coordinator in 1997.  She later resigned from this position in 2005 and was re-assigned as a dispatcher.  She became a certified instructor for TIES/NCIC/NLETS in February 2004.

Mrs. Parker was very knowledgeable of her duties and all functions of Cenral Dispatch and it's policies.  Her superior once wrote of her, "I can always trust her to do the tasks assigned to her; she is very dependable and volunteers to work extra hours when needed and overtime is available."

Mrs. Parker retired as a dispatcher in 2010.
