Gerald H. Jeter began his career with the Jackson Police Department June 1, 1954 as a patrol officer.  He was assigned to the Patrol Division until he was promoted to the rank of  Desk Sergeant on August 1, 1967.

Then on July 16, 1973, Sergeant Jeter was promted to the rank of Lieutenant in the Patrol Division where he remained until his retired.  During his service Lt. Jeter received several letters of appreciation and commendation for his service to the community.  

Lt. Gerald Hays Jeter retired from the Jackson Police Department on February 1, 1979 after serving over 24 years with the department.
