T. D. "Tommy" McCord was hired at the Jackson Police Department on December 17, 1931 as a motorcycle policeman on a trial basis. Officer McCord worked as a railroad detective for seven years prior to joining the police department. Officer McCord left the Department on September 1, 1937 and returned to work again on April 15, 1945.  Officer McCord spent a portion of his career in the Traffic Division and then was later transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division.  Officer McCord was promoted to Detective Sergeant and and later to Detective Lieutenant will assigned to CID. 

Lt. Tommy McCord retired from the Jackson Police Department on September 1, 1959 after serving about 14 years with the department.
